Hostel International in Boston has mixed gender (family) dorm style rooms that can accommodate five (5) or six (6) family members. Private bathrooms are en suite in some rooms or accessed from the hallway in others. HI Boston provides linens, pillows and blankets. Do not bring a sleeping bag.
When reserving for a family, contact the hostel directly by phone or email. I found the website to be a bit difficult for accommodating a family reservation. In order to eliminate reservation errors, Sleeps5 recommends speaking to the hotel reservations staff directly so that you do not end up with strangers in your room and or split up.
Facility:
Free Wi-Fi is provided as well as a fully equipped kitchen and laundry room. TVs are available in some rooms. A continental breakfast is included.
Neighborhood:
This is a centrally located establishment. Families are just a short walk from the Freedom Trail, Boston Common, and Faneuil Hall. We found walking around Boston to be the best way to see the numerous sites but bring a map. The streets are not based on a grid but rather some sort of cobweb that came together during the birth of a nation.

Tips and Reservation Info
Contact the hostel directly and reserve all six beds in the dorm room for a family of five unless you are comfortable with a stranger staying with you in the spare bed. Also, talk about the private room options. If you join HI you will receive a member discount.
