The Fairmont Empress is a lovely old grand dame of a hotel located right in Victoria’s inner Harbor area. It is a tourist site for visitors to Victoria, British Columbia, but if you can stay there, it makes for an extra special trip. There are some very spacious rooms and suites where they will allow families of 5 or 6 to stay.
Holly’s family called the hotel directly to request a larger room and extra fold out bed. They and their children were comfortably accommodated and warmly welcomed. The Empress often has specials running – always ask.
There is an indoor pool, gardens, a famous Afternoon English Tea (charming) and a number of restaurants. The restaurants are wonderful but not inexpensive. Museums and other sights including Miniature World and the Bug Museum are all nearby. If you want to have the Afternoon English Tea and are traveling during the busy summer season, be sure to make reservations well in advance. Wifi internet is available for an extra fee.
