Location:
The Castello sits on top of the small hill-town of Montegufoni, an easy jumping off point for visiting other towns in Tuscany. The Castello has a long and varied history starting in the 1100’s. A synopsis of that history and photographs of the Castello and its rooms can be found on the website.
Amenities:
Holly’s family stayed there for one week in the summer of 2004, 2006 and 2008. It is an extended stay establishment, in that small apartments or villas are rented out in week-long increments. It is not a hotel, but has many amenities like a swimming pool, front desk, small store (that makes the best lattes) and restaurant. There is also a laundry room on site for guest use. Free wifi internet is available.
Although there is some bus service, it would be necessary to have a car in order to visit the surrounding countryside and hill towns. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and tolerant of children. There is a pay phone in the courtyard.
