Cotswolds Hotels vs Airbnb for Budget Travel – Family of 5

Facebooktwitterpinterest

Like other families with three kids or more, we sometimes use AirBnB for both the value and space. That said, we have recently found that AirBnBs are quite expensive in higher tourist areas. And, in fact, we have found traditional hotels and B&Bs can offer the same value with greater convenience. It’s worth a little research to be sure.

Here is a short list of hotels that are equal or better value to nearby AirBnb listings that we have found so far in the Cotswolds. Please note, the rates varied per season, and were often better on third party sites.

The Crown Hotel (in Blockley)

The ancient Crown Hotel is located in the charming village of Blockley near similarly quaint villages including Bourton-on-the Hill and Moreton-in-Marsh. Love that!!

This hotel has a reasonably priced Family Room (about $150 USD/night at the time of this writing) that accommodates a family of five (5) in one room. The Crown includes breakfast in the nightly rate. And in some cases you can bring your favorite furry buddy. What’s not to love?!

The Witney (in Witney)

This 17th century guesthouse is located near the town center of Witney on the edge of the Cotswolds. It has a budget friendly Family Room that sleeps five (5) and includes breakfast (about $150 USD at the time of this writing).

The rates on the hotel’s website are happily similar to those listed on third party sites but it’s still worth looking around for the best deal. It is a smoke free property and pets are allowed.

Clarence Court Hotel (in Cheltenham)

The Clarence Court Hotel is located on the edge of the Cotswolds in the regency spa town of Cheltenham. Again, this hotel has reasonably priced Family Rooms (about $200.00/night at the time of this writing)  with English breakfast included!

It is located in a quiet leafy part of the town but near many points of interest. The hotel is a rather grand old regency building.

Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa (near Stratford-Upon-Avon)

The Warwickshire Walton Hotel is located in Wellsbourne, about 8 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. The hotel has reasonably priced “apartments” that can accommodate a family of five (5).

We found, as this is a larger hotel, prices fluctuated widely based on the season and third party sites. There is an indoor pool which can be fairly irresistible to many families along with extensive ground for running around.
